STEVE BULL believes England will be just fine without David Beckham at the World Cup.
Three Lions boss Fabio Capello has been rocked by the news that Beckham is out for at least four months with a ruptured Achilles. But Bull, who won 13 caps for the Three Lions, insists it is not all doom and gloom for Capello. The Wolves legend said: "I don't think it's that big a loss because we don't know if David was even going to make it into the final squad. "When you get injuries like that, it's your body's way of telling you it's slowing down. "I don't know whether he'll pack up now or fight on, but there's no doubt he'll be destroyed about missing out. "However, I think in the back of his mind he'll know it was only 50-50 whether Capello was going to pick him or not." Beckham, 34, will undergo emergency surgery in Finland today after pulling up during AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo. He was carried to the dressing room on a stretcher before leaving the San Siro on crutches. Milan insist the midfielder can rejoin them on loan next season but Bull believes Becks should focus on his career with LA Galaxy when he does return to action. He added: "If it was me, I'd put my feet up now and enjoy the rest of my life. "But if he does come back, I think he should focus on seeing out his career with Galaxy. "He should finish off what he's doing there and not worry about setting his sights higher." Despite the loss of Beckham, Bull remains confident England can make an impression in South Africa. And he claims in-form Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be the key to glory. Bully, 44, said: "I think we'll do well, I honestly do. "Rooney's on fire at the moment and he could provide the goals to get us to the final. "I've got a sneaky feeling Capello can get us a fair way in the tournament — as long as everyone else stays fit."
